John Donohue concentrates his practice on litigation and counseling in the areas of patents, copyrights, and trademarks. John specializes in serving high-technology clients in the computers and computer software, telecommunications, electronics, robotics, medical imaging, and automated control systems industries.
Professional Background
John's skill in resolving high-stakes disputes is illustrated by the settlement of a multi-party dispute involving three district courts and the International Trade Commission. Another successful resolution included the settlement of a $40 million patent claim. In settlement of the claim, no money was exchanged. John recently was involved in a multi-million dollar settlement on a trademark arbitration claim before the ITC in London. John draws on his earlier experience as in-house counsel at Nordson Corporation, a manufacturer of adhesive, coating and spray systems, to help shape his perspective. Along with his in-house experience, John brings to his practice insight gleaned as a law clerk in the Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas as a public defender and as lead and assisting trial counsel in many litigations. Through this work, John has achieved an invaluable level of insight into the mindset of judges and juries and the courtroom process. John was described by peers as "a top-class all-around IP lawyer" and a "practical and straightforward attorney with excellent leadership skills" in the Chambers USA Guide to the Legal Profession.
