Woodcock Washburn Secures Patent Jury Verdict for the University of Pennsylvania

A jury in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania has ruled in favor of Woodcock Washburn client the University of Pennsylvania in a patent infringement lawsuit brought against Penn and Avid Radiopharmaceuticals by the Alzheimer's Institute of America ("AIA"). The patents at issue in the suit relate to nucleic acids that code for amyloid precursor protein with the Swedish mutation and to transgenic mice that express the protein.more

Woodcock Washburn Negotiates $70 Million Settlement of Patent-License Dispute for Client Kensey Nash
March 21, 2012

Woodcock Washburn attorneys David Wolfsohn, John Caldwell, and Jake Soumis recently negotiated a favorable settlement on behalf of Kensey Nash involving two Kensey Nash patent licensing agreements involving vascular closure devices. Under the terms of the settlement, St. Jude Medical agreed to pay Kensey Nash $39 million in cash over the next three years, and agreed to enter into an exclusive supply agreement with Kensey Nash over five years, valued at approximately $31 million.more
